Welcome to Deenify, your Islamic companion app. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.
Data We Collect
- What we collect: GPS coordinates, city, country, and neighborhood information
- Why we collect it: To calculate accurate prayer times for your location, provide Qibla direction, and help you find nearby mosques
- When we collect it: Only when you grant location permission and enable location services in the app
- How it’s stored: Locally on your device only. We do not send your location data to external servers
Local Storage Data
The following data is stored locally on your device:
- Quran bookmarks and reading progress
- Prayer time settings (calculation method, madhab/juristic method)
- App preferences (theme, font size, notification settings)
- Tasbih counter history
- Saved duas and hadith bookmarks
How We Use Your Data
- Prayer Times: Calculate accurate prayer times based on your location using established Islamic calculation methods
- Qibla Direction: Determine the correct direction to Mecca from your current location
- Mosque Finder: Show nearby mosques relative to your position
- Notifications: Send prayer time reminders if you enable them
- Personalization: Save your preferences and settings for a better user experience
Data Storage & Security
- Local Storage Only: All your data is stored locally on your device. We do not send your location or personal information to any external servers owned or operated by us.
- No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share, sell, or transfer your location data or any other personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
- No Cloud Backup: Your data remains on your device and is not automatically backed up to any cloud services by our app.
- Prayer Times API: To calculate prayer times, your coordinates are sent to third-party prayer times APIs (such as Aladhan API). This data is not stored by us.
Your Privacy Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Disable Location: Turn off location services at any time in the app Settings
- Manual Location: Enter your location manually instead of using GPS
- Delete Data: Uninstalling the app removes all stored data from your device
- Opt-Out Notifications: Disable prayer notifications at any time in Settings
- Revoke Permissions: Change app permissions through your device settings (iOS: Settings > Deenify, Android: Settings > Apps > Deenify)
Permissions We Request
Location (Optional)
Required for prayer times calculation, Qibla direction, and mosque finder. You can use the app without granting location permission by manually entering your city.

Third-Party Services
Deenify uses the following third-party services:
Prayer Times API
We use external APIs (such as Aladhan API) to calculate prayer times based on your location. Only your coordinates are sent to calculate prayer times. This data is not stored by us or retained by the API beyond the scope of providing the service.
Quran & Hadith Content
Islamic content (Quran text, translations, audio recitations, and hadith) is fetched from public APIs and cached locally on your device. No personal data is shared with these services.
Location Services
We use the device’s native location services (iOS Location Services, Android Location Manager) provided by Apple and Google respectively. These services are governed by their respective privacy policies.
Children’s Privacy
Deenify is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require user accounts and stores all data locally on the device. Parents and guardians should supervise children’s use of the app.
Data Retention
- All data is stored locally on your device
- Data persists until you disable location services, clear app data, or uninstall the app
- No data is retained by us or any third parties on external servers
- You can delete specific data (bookmarks, history) within the app at any time
International Data Transfers
Since all your data is stored locally on your device, there are no international data transfers to external servers operated by us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be reflected with a new “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
